If you need maximum comfort: the best non-budget cars for pensioners
Pensions in Europe and Ukraine differ significantly. European retirees can even afford to buy a car, which is not the case for most Ukrainians. Experts said that after retirement, people often replace old models that no longer meet their needs with those that better reflect the new stage of life.
There is no one-size-fits-all approach to buying a car, but buyers in this age group are likely to have several common needs. To narrow down the list, experts have ranked the best affordable and reliable cars according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
Subaru Ascent
Starting price: $34,395.
The Subaru Ascent is a great choice. It has everything from ample space to reliable and high-quality technical characteristics. Ascent's safety equipment includes driver assistance technology and an available distraction mitigation system to help you focus on the road. The car has a 2.4-liter turbocharged engine and standard all-wheel drive.
Honda CR-V
Starting price: $30,100.
Honda's CR-V often ranks first on the list of the most popular SUVs thanks to its many features, safety ratings, and overall value. The latest version of the CR-V boasts standard collision mitigation braking, lane departure warning, and lane keeping assist for maximum peace of mind. The standard 1.5-liter engine with 190 horsepower is low-emission. Or you can choose a hybrid version. Even with the basic LX trim, you get Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Toyota Sienna

Consumer Reports notes that the Sienna is very convenient and comfortable, so you don't have to worry about long trips. The car has good fuel economy, a 12.3-inch touchscreen display, and safety features such as lane departure warning, assist, and pedestrian detection.
Hyundai Santa Fe

Updated for the 2024 model year, the Santa Fe has a square design that looks modern but not too futuristic. The base SE trim is equipped with a 2.5-liter turbocharged engine. The Santa Fe's standard third row of seats is suitable for large families. A 12.3-inch touchscreen display is standard, as are blind spot monitoring, collision avoidance, and security features.
Toyota Crown

With a ground clearance of 5.8 inches, the Toyota Crown sedan is slightly taller than most of its counterparts. All engine options for the sedan are hybrid. Traction will not be a problem either, given that all Crown trims come with all-wheel drive. You will also get a suite of safety features, including pedestrian detection, lane keeping assist, and blind spot monitoring as standard on the XLE.
