Russian dictator Vladimir Putin complained to the IAEA that the Ukrainian Armed Forces allegedly "tried to strike" the Kursk nuclear power plant. After that, the head of the International Atomic Energy Agency, Rafael Grossi, said he was "very concerned" about the fighting in the Kursk region.

Grossi also announced his visit to the Kursk NPP. He said this in an interview with the Financial Times.

According to the IAEA director, he intends to visit the Kursk nuclear power plant next week. He added that he was going to the plant "at the invitation of the Russian authorities".

The head of the agency said that he intends to talk to the managers of the nuclear power plant and assess the condition of the external power supply and access roads. In addition, the IAEA director said that he intends to collect "any evidence that the nuclear power plant was attacked."

At the same time, during the interview, Mr. Grossi said that the nuclear power plant is now within artillery range of the Ukrainian army. However, the IAEA director did not comment on the Russian dictator's words about the alleged attempts of the Ukrainian army to attack the plant.

"Kursk NPP is technically within the artillery range of Ukrainian positions. And since there is fighting, I am very concerned," the IAEA director said.

Grossi said that the proximity of the Kursk NPP to the fighting is of "particular concern" because the plant has two RBMK reactors, similar to those used at the Chornobyl nuclear power plant.

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi said in an interview with Bloomberg that after visiting the Kursk NPP, he would travel to Kyiv and meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

It is worth noting that the Kursk NPP has six power units of two different types of reactors: two of them are RBMK-1000 type and are in a state of shutdown. Two more are operating normally, and two more VVER-510 reactors are under construction.

As a reminder, Russian troops are trying to "feel" the direction of the main attack of the Ukrainian Armed Forces in the Kursk region. In particular, the Russians were afraid that the Ukrainian Armed Forces could seize the Kursk NPP in the city of Kurchatov.
