Bellew speaks about the rematch between Usyk and Dubois
Former world heavyweight champion Tony Bellew does not believe that his compatriot Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) will be able to take revenge on Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs). The Briton noted that after four victories over Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs), the Ukrainian is rightfully considered the main star of the royal division.
Bellew expressed this opinion in an interview with the SportingTalk YouTube channel. Usyk's former rival emphasized that in the first confrontation with Du Bois, the Ukrainian super champion looked much more convincing than his opponent, and this will be repeated in the second possible fight.
"Usyk is now the main star of the heavyweight division, and it's other boxers who need him, not him. He can choose any fight. I take my hat off to Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury because they had the courage to fight him. So did Daniel Dubois. Let's remember how the first fight went. Let's be very honest: Du Bois hit a protective bandage. It's supposed to protect you from such punches. And look how the fight ended. Dubois just gave up," Bellew said.
It will be recalled that Oleksandr defeated Daniel by technical knockout in the ninth round in August 2023, and Daniel scored a dirty punch below the belt. The head of the Saudi General Authority for Entertainment, Turki Al Al-Sheikh, announced his intention to organize a rematch between the British and Ukrainian.
Earlier, Usyk decided on his next opponent in the professional ring and the weight category where he will fight. At the same time, he received a sensational offer to hold a championship fight in Ukraine in a new division.
