"I don't want to talk about this person": Lucescu speaks about Ukraine's traitor Tymoshchuk
The former head coach of Dynamo Kyiv, Mircea Lucescu, denied that he was in contact with the traitor of Ukraine and assistant head coach of Zenit Anatoliy Tymoshchuk. According to the 78-year-old Romanian specialist, he communicated with the former Shakhtar Donetsk captain and the national team of our country before Russia's full-scale invasion.
Lucescu said this in a comment to the SportArena portal. The former coach of Shakhtar, Dynamo and Zenit added that he did not know Tymoshchuk's attitude to the war. In addition, the Romanian, who accused Russian propagandists of lying, noted that he supports Ukraine in its confrontation with Russian aggression.
"I know that there will definitely be questions about Tymoshchuk in the future. The last time we talked was before the full-scale invasion. I don't understand his political position, and I don't want to talk about this person anymore, even though we used to be close and he was my assistant at Zenit. I don't want to leave Ukraine as an enemy. I was the only foreign coach who did not leave Ukraine during the war, I was with Dynamo and the country all this time. I want you to remember me as a person who helped develop Ukrainian football and Ukrainian sport," Lucescu said.
Earlier, a Romanian coach made an emotional statement in an interview with Russian propagandists saying "This is a lie."
As a reminder, Lucescu resigned as Dynamo's head coach after the team's defeat in a fundamental confrontation with Shakhtar Donetsk. After this fiasco, Kyiv remained in seventh place in the UPL standings, 10 points behind the leader. The Romanian took charge of Kyiv in the summer of 2020. Under his leadership, the team once won the Ukrainian league and cup.
Dynamo president Ihor Surkis has named the team's new head coach. In addition, it has become known who can lead the White and Blues permanently.
