Carpet odors are particularly persistent. They can only temporarily diminish after washing or using fragrances, and then reappear. The fibers should be cleaned especially thoroughly - they accumulate dirt, moisture, and even fungal spores.

Cleaning experts advise using ground coffee, which is a very effective odor neutralizer.

You just need to sprinkle some ground coffee on the carpet and leave it for ten minutes. Don't worry, the coffee won't stain the fabric. After the product starts to work, you will only have to vacuum up the ground coffee beans. This simple life hack neutralizes all unpleasant odors.

You can also use baking soda to refresh an old carpet. The first step is to lift the pile by rubbing the soda into the fibers with a stiff brush. The only downside is that you will have to leave the baking soda on the carpet for several hours or even overnight, and in the morning remove the remaining abrasive particles with a vacuum cleaner.

You can also try vinegar or citric acid to neutralize odors.
