How to get rid of limescale on a showerhead without chemicals: a simple life hack
Limescale can destroy your showerhead by causing clogs that will prevent you from using the item properly. In addition, water will be everywhere.
The culprit behind these problems is limescale, a tough white deposit that is mostly composed of calcium carbonate. It usually covers kettles and faucets and leaves streaks on shower doors, OBOZ.UA writes.
Still, it is possible to get rid of it without chemicals and thorough washing. To do this, you need ordinary vinegar and a plastic bag.
The acid in vinegar breaks down calcium carbonate, which forms limescale, making it an effective cleaning solution.
So, place the showerhead in a plastic bag with water and vinegar for a while. If the limescale is heavy or very stubborn, you can leave it like this overnight.
If you do everything right, you won't even have to wash or rub anything - just rinse the showerhead with clean water and that's it. It will shine and look like new.
Another method is to use lemon juice or citric acid. In the latter case, you can also dilute the acid in water in a plastic bag and put the showerhead in it for 15-20 minutes. If you use a fresh lemon, then rub it on the surface that has limescale, wait, and then rinse with clean water.
