A Finnish company has developed a new drone that shoots bullets for Ukraine: what is known about it. Video
The Finnish defense industry is actively cooperating with Ukrainian companies, using the experience of the war in Ukraine to create new weapons. One of the results of the joint work is the new Steel Eagle ER (Extended Range) attack drone, which is capable of delivering precise and powerful strikes on enemy manpower and equipment.
According to Yle, the drone was developed by Insta, a strategic partner of the Finnish Defense Forces. The development has already been put into production, and the first prototypes have passed flight tests. The new product will be presented on Wednesday during the SecD Day event in Helsinki.
"If you work only in Finland, you cannot understand what the device should be like. There is a war in Ukraine, and that is why the product was developed for frontline conditions," said Tuure Lehtoranta, Sales and Marketing Director of Insta's defense business unit.
Features of the new Steel Eagle ER drone
Steel Eagle ER has unique characteristics based on real combat experience in Ukraine.
- The drone has a modern control system. It is equipped with radio signals for remote control and has a data relay function, i.e. data transmission.
- It has a built-in FPV module. First-person view goggles allow the operator to see the environment from the drone's perspective.
- A special Ukrainian propeller was manufactured for this model.
- The new device has a long range.
- It is highly resistant to electronic interference.
One of the key features of the new drone is its payload. Finnish engineers have developed a special charge with built-in steel and tungsten bullets.
Tungsten, known for its strength and high melting point, was previously used in incandescent light bulbs and has now become an important material in the military industry.
According to the developers, the warhead is capable of:
- pierce the roof of conventional and lightly armored vehicles;
- hit manpower over a large area.
For example, three of these drones can destroy or seriously injure a group of soldiers on a field the size of a football field.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, the Ukrainian drone missile "Hell" has been put into mass production. Its flight speed can reach 700 km/h, and its maximum range is over 700 kilometers. Valerii Romanenko, an aviation expert, told us about the key advantages of the "Hell" missile and the possibilities of its use.
