How to choose the right makeup for your skin type: universal tips
Unfortunately, there are no universal makeup products and techniques that will suit everyone. To look flawless, you need to take into account the peculiarities of your skin type.
The right choice of cosmetics helps to avoid drying, irritation, or excessive oiliness. That's why The Indian Express shared tips for people with different skin types.
Oily skin
If you have oily skin, you should use light, non-greasy and non-comedogenic products that do not clog pores. Also, remember to cleanse your skin well before applying any cosmetic product.
People with oily skin tend to have quite large pores. Therefore, they should also use a primer that narrows them, as well as give preference to matte foundations or moisturizers with a matting effect.
At the end of your makeup, set it with loose powder and use blotting paper to control excess oil throughout the day.
Dry skin
For dry skin, choose a foundation with a fresh or satin finish or a tinted moisturizer that nourishes the skin.
Avoid foundations that are labeled as matte, and stay away from dry powder products as they can accentuate dry skin. Go for liquid or creamy textures instead.
Combination skin
If you have combination skin with an oily T-zone and dry cheeks, choose non-greasy and lightweight T-zone products and cheek moisturizers.
Apply a water-based moisturizer to your face before applying makeup, and use a matte primer to balance the skin's shine. Set the look with translucent powder. If your skin looks oily and shiny, use less highlighter. And if it is too dry, then pay attention to liquid highlighter.
Sensitive skin
If you have sensitive skin, look for cosmetics that are labeled "fragrance-free," "hypoallergenic," "non-irritating," "for sensitive skin," and "anti-inflammatory." Also, look for mineral-based products as they usually do not contain harsh chemicals or irritants such as dyes and additives.
Acne-prone skin
If you have acne-prone skin, use non-comedogenic products that do not clog pores. Avoid oil-based cosmetics.
Use a lightweight foundation or tinted moisturizer with ingredients such as salicylic acid or benzoyl peroxide.
Also, never go to bed with makeup on and use a mild makeup remover before bed to avoid clogging pores and new breakouts. Also, clean your makeup brushes regularly to prevent bacteria from growing on them.
In order to choose a better care for your skin, consult a specialist.
