The new 6th generation Honda Prelude will compete with Nissan and Toyota. According to Motor1, the manufacturer is preparing a high-performance car. This is how the coupe will be positioned on the market.
There are no specifics on the technical part yet. The coupe is expected to receive an economical powertrain from the Honda Accord and Civic hybrid models. The power of these cars is 200 hp, but the output of the Prelude may be increased.
Strict environmental regulations require some electrification. Therefore, the hybrid powertrain is not a big surprise.
Interestingly, the manufacturer has developed an imitation of a manual transmission based on the variator that is common in hybrid systems. The mechanism of operation is organized with the help of an electric motor, which will help create the illusion of gear shifting for a vivid driving experience.
