"He had a ban": contender for fight with Usyk boiled over because another fight is being prepared for the Ukrainian
Interim World Boxing Organization (WBO) champion Joseph Parker (36-3, 24 KOs) is outraged that he is being effectively removed from a fight for the full belt. After his victory over Martin Bacalli (21-2, 16 KOs), the New Zealander was hoping to fight Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs), but the Ukrainian is preparing a rematch with Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs).
Parker himself said this in an interview with The New Zealand Herald. The 33-year-old Auckland-based heavyweight also added that if a fight with Usyk is not possible, he was supposed to be Dubois' opponent, who was supposed to fight on February 22, but the Briton withdrew due to illness.
"I think there will be a fight with Usyk and Dubois because everyone is talking about it now. I may have to have another fight before I can fight for the world title. I'm a little bit angry. How can this unification fight with Usyk and Dubois be arranged when he had a closed fight with me? Now that I beat Bakole, I have to fight Dubois. Now there is a risk if I fight someone else, but what can I do?" Parker said.
It should be noted that Dubois may postpone the rematch with Usyk for the sake of a second fight with Anthony Joshua (28-4, 25 KOs). At the same time, the organizers of boxing nights from Saudi Arabia are looking forward to organizing a unification superfight between Oleksandr and Daniel in mid-fall.
We would like to remind you that our compatriot already fought the Briton in August 2023. Back then, Oleksandr won by TKO in the ninth round, and Daniel scored a dirty punch below the belt.
Earlier it became known that our compatriot could be deprived of the World Boxing Council (WBC) belt. Usyk himself told us when he intends to end his career. Oleksandr also said that he is preparing to hold the most unusual fight of his career.
As OBOZ.UA reported, Oleksandr Usyk demonstrated his attitude towards Russia at a boxing event in Riyadh. His act caused a real frenzy in Russia.
