"Harry Potter" series: when will it be released and what statement surprised the movie Sirius
Autumn and winter are the best time to watch Harry Potter movies. The snowy Hogwarts takes you to the atmosphere of childhood and fairy tales. Harry Potter fans are eagerly awaiting the release of the first season of the eponymous series. The upcoming fantasy series is going to open a new page in Potteriana. For children, it is a great opportunity to get acquainted with the universe created by J.K. Rowling for the first time, and for adults, it is a chance to return to childhood.
According to preliminary data, the series will have seven seasons and will become a whole era. The episodes will be released over 10 years. HBO director Casey Bloys stunned with a statement in a conversation with Deadline. He confirmed that the series will be released no earlier than 2026-2027.
Although the script is already in active development, the premiere date is not close. Only recently, the studio announced the casting of actors who will play Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Children who will be 9-11 years old in April 2025 and live in the UK and Ireland are invited to apply.
Filming of the series is expected to begin only in the second half of 2025. The developers say that they want to pay due attention to the scenery and script, so the production process may well be delayed.
Casey Bloys confirmed that the series will definitely not be released before 2026-2027, but it is difficult to give a more precise date.
"The series will be released at the end of 2026-2027. The writers are just starting to write, so it's too early to talk about the air date," said Bloys.
The executive producers of the project are J.K. Rowling, Neil and Ruth Kenley-Letts. The series is being developed by screenwriter Francesca Gardiner and director Mark Milod.
On the red carpet of the 76th Emmy Awards, IndieWire asked Gary Oldman, who played Sirius Black in the Warner Bros. films, whether the actor was ready to return to the set to play his character in the upcoming series. The actor said that no one had approached him, but added that Sirius was not enough in the films: "He [Sirius – ed.] appeared and then went through the curtain."
"I would bet that the series will have a completely new cast. Maybe in a few years, I'll be able to play Dumbledore," said Oldman.
The idea of creating a series based on the Potteriana universe has been discussed for years. Viewers were disappointed that the films did not include numerous excerpts from the books. Some fans emphasized that the film adaptation did not accurately reflect the fictional world of Rowling's novels.
The creators of the series promised to bring the series as close as possible to the plot of the books. Previously, Warner Bros Discovery announced in a press release that the series would have a new cast.
And while fans around the world are speculating about the actors who could become the new incarnation of the classic characters, Max service has shown the first teaser of the series.
