Sansevieria, also known as snake plant, grows in places where others would not have a chance to survive. It is valued for its resistance to adverse conditions and ease of care.

This plant is suitable for both beginners and more experienced indoor plant lovers. But there is one trick that will make sansevieria grow like crazy. Read about the secrets of caring for it in the OBOZ.UA article.

What is this plant – sansevieria

Sansevieria is a plant native to Africa that has been popular in home interiors for many years. It is characterized by hard leaves that can reach a length of up to one meter.

The plant is extremely durable, and able to survive even in low light and interruptions in watering. At the same time, sansevieria is one of the plants that effectively removes toxins from the air.

It fits well in both office spaces and bedrooms.

What to do if sansevieria wilts

If suddenly the leaves of sansevieria begin to wilt and lose their luster, ordinary coffee grounds, a popular natural fertilizer used by many gardeners, can help.

Properly prepared fertilizer provides the plant with the nitrogen it needs for proper growth. Coffee grounds are also a source of potassium and phosphorus, elements that support the root system and improve soil structure.

At the same time, sansevieria does not require frequent fertilization. There are many benefits to using coffee grounds in moderation.

How to fertilize sansevieria

After brewing coffee, wait for the grounds to cool and dry. Do not rush to use it – too wet a mass can harm the roots of the snake plant. The easiest way is to sprinkle one teaspoon of coffee grounds over the surface of the flower pot, gently mixing with the top layer of the substrate.

Use coffee grounds for sansevieria once every six weeks. Finally, you should water the plant with a moderate amount of water so that the nutrients penetrate deep into the soil in the pot. As a result, the plant will regain its attractive green color and produce new shoots.

What the sansevieria does not like

Despite its high resistance, sansevieria has a number of requirements for growth. Moderation of watering is crucial. Sansevieria does not like excess water, which can lead to root rot.

The popular houseplant also does not like intense sunlight. Prolonged exposure to the sun can lead to leaf burns.

Earlier, OBOZ.UA told you which houseplants cleanse indoor air from toxins. Some of them can neutralize benzene, toluene, formaldehyde, and acetone. Scientists have proven that some plants can improve health because they can filter pollutants and absorb them.
