The large-scale Miss World 2023 pageant has ended in India, where Ukraine was represented by 19-year-old artist Sofia Shamia. The Ukrainian girl stayed in Mumbai for more than three weeks and during this time showed many spectacular images. The girl preferred fitted silhouettes that emphasized her graceful slender figure. She did not forget to convey the indomitable spirit of the Ukrainian people through her clothes, as well as other important messages related to the war in her homeland.

Thus, the Ukrainian national costume for Miss World was called "Forest Song" and addressed the problem of ecology in Ukraine, which has suffered greatly from Russian aggression and terror. However, this outfit is not the only one that deserves attention. OBOZ.UA decided to collect and showcase Sofia's most spectacular looks at the competition.

"Forest Song"

Since we have already started talking about the national costume, we will start with it. The unique dress was created based on the eponymous work by Lesya Ukrainka and the world-famous Ukrainian cartoon Mavka. It took 2 months to make the costume. It was created in the difficult conditions of the terrorist war under constant Russian shelling in Kharkiv.

The dress was embroidered by hand using layer-by-layer printed "leaves". Each leaf was made by Kharkiv craftswomen separately. The fern flower is based on the kirigami technique and is complicated with different textured materials to create a "shining effect". The pearl of the image is the kinetic flowers, the technology for which was developed by engineers specifically for the "Forest Song" image. They open and close (hide) with certain movements of the model.

"Today, Ukrainian nature is a silent victim of war. Burnt industrial facilities and forests, poisoned air and water resources, soil contaminated by mines and shells, massive deaths of animals and plants," the Ukrainian delegation at the competition explained the message of their costume.

"Steel Lady"

This unique dress was Sofia Shamia's main evening outfit at the pageant. It was created by designer Andriy Anikeev, inspired by the Mother Ukraine and its reconstruction last year. The symbolic outfit conveyed the resilience, core, and steadfastness of the people who have been fighting the Russian aggressor for 10 years. At the same time, the dress has become the personification of the indomitable Ukrainian woman.

The highlight of the look is a monolithic corset symbolizing armor. The basis of the dress is a mesh with Swarovski crystals, which, combined with glitter, creates honeycombs reminiscent of the visual of chainmail.

Vyshyvanka "Cuckoo"

Sofia Shamia demonstrated her incredibly beautiful vyshyvanka (embroidered shirt) during one of the events of the competition. The beauty chose a red mini-dress with voluminous sleeves and a wide collar. The fabric is decorated with embroidered white ornaments. It is known that the dress is the work of the craftsmen of the famous Ukrainian brand FOBERINI. It is called "Cuckoo". These are the birds embroidered on the elegant dress.

The look was complemented by a blue and yellow pearl handbag. This patriotic accessory has become a companion to Sofia and her looks at the competition more than once.

As part of Miss World, all the contestants visited the Army Wives Welfare Association (AWWA). At the event, the Ukrainian appeared in an exquisite look in patriotic colors, but in pastel tones. The highlight of the outfit was definitely a luxurious wreath in the colors of the Ukrainian flag with ears of grain. It was designed for our beauty by the domestic brand YARADECO.

Dress from the presentation of a charity project

As you know, the Ukrainian representative's charity project was among the top ten. For the gala evening, where the participants actually presented their projects, Sofia Shamia chose a sophisticated and elegant dress in nude shades with shimmering elements. The tight-fitting style of the product emphasized the girl's graceful silhouette. It is known that the dress was created by the designers of the Kyiv-based brand M'admire. A translucent shawl in a powdery shade, which the Ukrainian tied around her neck, made the look even more interesting.

Pre-final dress

On the eve of the final and the announcement of the new Miss World, all the contestants gathered for dinner, for which a white dress code was required. Our beauty showed off an elegant off-the-shoulder dress with a blue and yellow brooch. It formed a harmonious duet with the aforementioned handbag in the colors of the Ukrainian flag. Sofia's red lips were also a successful accent, and her tied-up hairstyle added even more sophistication to the overall ensemble.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Sofia Shamia did not make it to the top 12 at Miss World. Meanwhile, the winner of the main crown was Krystyna Pyszková from the Czech Republic. The 24-year-old model-student has her own charity foundation and is studying two majors.
