Filming of the second season of "Wednesday" is over: the first shot has appeared

Since its triumphant premiere in November 2022, "Wednesday" has amassed over 1 billion hours of viewing on Netflix. It is the second most-watched English-language series on the platform. "Wednesday" also received 12 Emmy nominations, 4 of which were winners.

Shortly after the successful premiere, Netflix announced that it was working on the second season. In addition, there are rumors about the launch of a separate project that will tell about the adventures of Uncle Fester. Fans of the series received great news –- the filming of the second season is over.

The dark fantasy series was created by director Tim Burton. Netflix has released the first still from the second season – the photo shows actor Jenna Ortega (Wednesday) in a traditional dark outfit for her character.

The image is quite atmospheric – Wednesday has a characteristic pose: arms crossed, a gloomy look, and a somewhat eerie background, similar to a gothic-style cemetery with a gate.

Netflix has officially announced that the series has been completed and is scheduled to premiere in 2025.

The first season focused on Wednesday's training at Nevermore, an academy for so-called outcasts. Wednesday tried to master her superhuman abilities, confronted her enemies, rescued her parents, and tried to decide who her true friends were.

The plot of the second part is still classified. Probably, Tyler, played by Hunter Doohan, will appear on the screens again. The new season will also feature Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Joy Sunday (Bianca), Victor Dorobantu (Rich), Moussa Mostafa (Eugene), Georgie Farmer (Ajax), Isaac Ordonez (Pugsley), Jamie McShane (Sheriff) and Luyanda Unati Lewis-Niavo (Deputy Sheriff). The name of Percy Hines White (Xavier) is not on the list. There are reports that the actor was fired from the series after being accused of violence and harassment.

The new guest stars are Christopher Lloyd, Joanna Lumley, Frances O'Connor, Haley Joel Osment, Heather Matarazzo, and Joonas Suotamo. Variety sources note that we can expect Lady Gaga to make a cameo.
