European champion from Ukraine refused to finish at the Biathlon World Cup, leaving the track during the race
At the 8th stage of the Biathlon World Cup, which took place in the American Salver Hollow (Utah, USA), the men's 12.5 km pursuit took place. Ukraine was supposed to be represented in this discipline by Anton Dudchenko, Artem Pryma, Vitaliy Mandzin and Dmytro Pidruchnyi, but in the end, only Dudchenko finished.
Mandzyn and Pidruchnyi did not take part in the race due to poor health, and Pryma was unable to finish.
After the second firing line with three misses, the four-time European champion ranked 54th out of 56 participants, 4:21.1 behind the leader. Artem did not pass the 6.1 km mark and withdrew from the race.
Anton Dudchenko eventually finished the solitaire in 40th place. The Norwegian Johannes Tingnes Bøgh won the competition. His brother Tarjei came in second. Emilien Jacqueline of France finished third.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Khrystyna Dmytrenko did not start the women's pursuit race the day before. The Ukrainian athlete still has the DNS (Do not start) icon in the final protocol. Our only biathlete on the course, Yulia Dzhyma, finished 22nd. Lou Jeanmonneau from France took the victory.
Eric Perrault sensationally won the sprint race at the stage in the United States. It was the 22-year-old Frenchman's first career gold medal in individual racing.
Ukraine, which was represented by five athletes in this discipline, could not boast of high results. The best among our biathletes was Artem Pryma, who finished 39th.
The day before, the U.S. biathlon team took the highest place in the history of World Cups in the relay. The American team of Vincent Bonacci, Sean Doherty, Campbell Wright and Jake Brown sensationally finished fourth at the 8th stage of the World Cup in Soldier Hollow (Salt Lake City, USA).
