Dubois explains his action at the Usyk-Fury rematch
World heavyweight champion Daniel Dubois (22-2, 21 KOs) does not consider his entry into the ring after the rematch between Oleksandr Usyk (23-0, 14 KOs) and Tyson Fury (34-2-1, 24 KOs) a bad act. The Briton noted that he deliberately challenged the Ukrainian boxer, demanding a rematch, because it was necessary for PR.
Dubois said this in an interview with Box Nation YouTube channel. The 27-year-old International Boxing Federation (IBF) belt holder emphasized that his goal is to become the absolute world heavyweight champion, and Usyk holds three royal division belts and is standing in his way.
"Will I enter the ring for the Usyk-Fury rematch? Listen, this is boxing. I've been in boxing for a long time and I realize that any publicity is good. It's clear that it won't be the way you want it to be. People either like you or hate what you do. But the main thing is that people want to see you in the ring. It's all just hype. I choose my own path and challenge Usyk. I want to become the absolute world champion and collect all the belts," said Dubois.
As a reminder, Usyk defeated Dubois by TKO in the ninth round in August 2023, and the Briton was notorious for a dirty punch below the belt.
Manager Aegis Klimas told us when Oleksandr plans to return to the ring after the rematch with Fury. Artificial intelligence has already made a forecast for the Ukrainian's fight.
Earlier it became known that Usyk may give up one of the championship belts for the sake of returning to the ring of the legendary Volodymyr Klychko (64-5-0-1, 54 KOs).
As OBOZ.UA reported earlier, a video of what Tyson Fury wrote on the flag of Ukraine after his defeat by Oleksandr Usyk in a rematch has appeared. In addition, our boxer was named the best heavyweight of the twenty-first century. The fees of the opponents for the second fight also became known.
