Complications of crossing the border with Moldova have been extended: at which checkpoints are travel restrictions possible
The term of repair work on the border bridge over the Dniester River, within the international checkpoint "Mohyliv-Podilskyi – Otach" (border with Moldova), has been extended. This may lead to restrictions on traffic across the bridge.
This was reported by the State Customs Service (SCS). They noted that the estimated time for the repair is 14 days.
"The period of repair work at the Mohyliv-Podilskyi – Otach international checkpoint has been extended for approximately 14 days. During the repair, traffic across the border bridge may be partially restricted. We ask citizens and carriers to take this information into account when planning to cross the border in this direction," the statement said.
As a reminder, repair work on the bridge began in mid-October. On October 10, the State Migration Service reported that they would last 10 days.
At the same time, the Nyzhankovychi-Malhowice checkpoint on the border with Poland has ceased to operate. However, not forever – it is expected that by the end of 2024, the construction of a new checkpoint will be completed.
The Polish crossing point in Dorohusk also faced problems due to road repairs. The work is expected to last until November 14, which will hamper traffic in both directions.
As reported by OBOZ.UA, on November 10, the EES system will start working on the EU borders, which will record biometric data of foreigners, which will simplify border crossing. Starting in 2025, Ukrainians will need to obtain a permit through the ETIAS system to travel to the EU, paying a fee of 7 euros (323 UAH).
