Its task is to create a structured cleaning regimen that includes daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly tasks. These tips will help you significantly reduce the accumulation of clutter, which will save you time on cleaning in the long run.

To switch to the 6/10 method, make a list of daily, weekly, and monthly tasks that need to be completed within a certain period of time. It will be easy to follow this list because the number of items on it is not very large. Let's talk about the most regular ones: 6 daily and 10 weekly tasks.

Daily tasks using the 6/10 method

Ideally, you shouldn't spend more than 10 minutes on each of the items on this list. Also, keep in mind that this is an approximate list – you can replace tasks in it depending on your needs. The main thing is to keep the list to exactly 6 tasks.

  1. Every day, tidy up one specific place – put things away and throw away the trash. This prevents clutter from accumulating and makes cleaning a more manageable process.
  2. Clean the surfaces in this area. Dust, wash countertops, wipe down appliances. This way, dust will hardly collect in your home.
  3. Spend 10 minutes every day to keep your bathroom clean. Wipe down the surfaces, clean the sink and toilet, and go over the mirrors with a microfiber cloth.
  4. Also spend 10 minutes in the kitchen. Wipe up any spills, put the dishes back in their places, wash the countertops, and sweep the floor. Keep the kitchen sink clean and wash dishes regularly.

Weekly tasks using the 6/10 method

Like the daily list, the items on this one can be changed and adjusted to suit your home and needs. But as a rule, the list of weekly tasks includes the following ten.

  1. Do a thorough cleaning of the bathroom, including washing the toilet, polishing the faucets, and caring for glass surfaces. Pay special attention to the condition of the tile joints and shower curtain – mold can grow on them and needs to be dealt with in time.
  2. Change the bedding. Doing this once a week is the optimal regimen, which even doctors recommend.
  3. Also change your towels. And not only bath, hand, and face towels, but also kitchen towels.
  4. Dust the whole house. Don't forget about shelves, tables, and electronics.
  5. Vacuum all carpeted areas and wash hard floors. You can use a special floor cleaner in the heaviest-trafficked areas to help keep them more hygienic.
  6. Clean the inside of the microwave, oven, and refrigerator. Wipe down the outside of all kitchen appliances.
  7. Sort out the dirty clothes and wash them. When they are dry, put them in their designated places.
  8. Clean the sink drains to remove unwanted deposits. If your dishwasher and washing machine have a self-cleaning mode, run them in that mode.
  9. Sort through the food in your kitchen and pantry. Throw away anything that has expired.
  10. Look around the house for minor issues, such as burnt-out light bulbs, torn wallpaper, or wobbly furniture. Everything that can be put in order immediately, put in order, for the rest, plan the appropriate repair.
