Choosing for yourself: where to go for a vacation in Ukraine

It turns out that many Ukrainians hardly ever travel to cities in our country. The most they have seen are a few resorts, the Carpathians, and Kyiv.

Well, it's time to correct this unfortunate oversight. We recommend visiting special places where a winter fairy tale and a festive atmosphere reign. Read on to find out where exactly.

Truskavets

One of the most beautiful parts of Ukraine, located near the Carpathians. People come here to drink healing water and relax as much as possible. Unfortunately, there are no entertainment options for extreme sports fans here. Although the location is close to the mountains, you won't be able to go skiing here. But there is a great opportunity to improve your body and soul.

The climate in this area is very mild and comfortable. On average, the temperature does not fall below 10 degrees Celsius. So walking along the snow-covered alleys and streets will not cause significant discomfort.

There are two ways to organize a trip: rent a room in complexes that specialize in rehabilitation or find accommodation on your own and create your own itinerary. The second option is no worse than the first. After all, there are many places you can visit for free or for a nominal fee. It's ideal for those who want to have the most budget-friendly vacation possible.

Be sure to visit the local pump room, the heart of Truskavets. But keep in mind that it is only open three times a day: from 7:00 to 10:00, from 12:00 to 15:00, and from 17:00 to 20:00. You don't have to pay for entry, but you will have to pay for water. You can also easily arrange for a massage, medical treatments, or even accommodation if you suddenly want to stay in a hotel.

Also, visit the "rejuvenating" Yuzya spring. It is said that the local water helps to get rid of wrinkles because it contains substances of glycerin origin. We haven't checked the information for accuracy, but we think this method will definitely not hurt. By the way, there are always long lines here, so you'll have to wait.

A little advice: in winter, the spring water is very cold, so it's better to bring an empty bottle and take the liquid with you.

Kamianets-Podilskyi

In winter, this medieval city is especially beautiful and charming. Under the white blanket of snow, all its buildings and monuments take on a completely different appearance. Therefore, you should definitely visit here during the New Year holidays.

We recommend that you immediately head to the local fortress, which has been defending its residents for centuries. The first mention of it dates back to 1374. Since then, it has undergone many changes and often changed its appearance: the castle was constantly expanded, new towers, underground passages, and buildings appeared.

Not far from the bastion is another famous monument - the Table of Concord. The sculpture itself appeared here relatively recently. It was installed in 2001 during the 7 Cultures festival. The monument symbolizes the peoples who contributed to the history and architectural image of Kamianets-Podilskyi. Not far from the main composition is the eighth stone, which represents another nation that has influenced its fate.

Don't end your exploration of the region here. There are two other equally interesting fortifications here: the Lower and Upper Polish Gates. Once upon a time, they played an important role for the locals, serving as a strong shield against enemy attacks.

Not far from this location is another historical landmark - the Fahrenheit Stairs. It once connected two parts of the city. Climb them and stroll to the Church of Peter and Paul, another tourist attraction. Finally, visit the Town Hall, the Armenian Well, the Dominican Church, the Trinity Church, and the souvenir market.

Uzhhorod

This place is beautiful not only during the cherry blossom season but also in winter, when snow blankets the streets and houses. Once you arrive here, you will be amazed at every stop on your itinerary. Many of the local attractions are unique in the world, so you'll have plenty to see.

One of the items on your list should be Uzhhorod Castle. It has a thousand-year history, still shrouded in riddles and secrets. As expected, the fortress was built atop a hill, once very difficult for enemies to reach. This building had a radically different appearance for some time, but in the 16th century, it was rebuilt by Italian architects.

Be sure to visit the Uzhhorod Synagogue, which was built in 1904. The project was designed by Ferenc Szabolcs and Dula Papp. The uniqueness of the building lies in the combination of several completely different styles, including Romantic, Byzantine, Neo-Moorish, and Arab-Moroccan.

Do not miss the opportunity to visit the Transcarpathian Museum of Local Lore named after Tyvodar Lehotskyi. During his lifetime, the collector dreamed of opening an exhibition hall for everyone. However, the authorities did not support him at the time. After the patron's death, the institution was opened thanks to the efforts of his family and art lovers.
