A frequently asked question is whether Crocs can be machine-washed. Experts emphasize that you should take some precautions first.

How to wash Crocs

Aggressive products can cause discoloration of the surface, so experts advise choosing delicate gels or powders.

Crocs shoes should be washed only in a special mesh bag. First, it will be a precaution against damage to the drum. Secondly, the mesh bag will protect the shoes during the wash cycle, helping them to maintain their shape and preventing the straps from stretching. You can also use an old pillowcase as an affordable alternative.

What temperature to choose

Water temperature is also a key consideration. For Crocs, it is best to use a cold cycle. Since Crocs are made of crossite, a material that is neither plastic nor rubber, they run the risk of shrinking when heated.

Crossite is a resin-filled polymer. Even when in contact with warm foot skin, the material changes shape and follows the curves of the foot. Hot water in the washing machine can cause Crocs shoes to shrink, so the temperature should not exceed 30 °C.

Before putting your Crocs in the washing machine, check for stable stains. You can pre-clean the dirt with baking soda. It's also a good idea to add a little white vinegar to the washing machine for better stain removal and disinfection.

Crocs should be dried in the fresh air so that they are not exposed to direct sunlight. Drying shoes in a dryer is strictly prohibited. Shoes should also not be left in the sun for a long time – there is a risk that Crocs will bend or shrink in size.
