In the morning and afternoon of March 17, the Russian city of Belgorod was again "loudly" alerted to a missile threat. Explosions were heard in the city, a fire broke out, and reports of injuries and deaths were made.

Around seven o'clock in the morning, a missile alert was announced in the Belgorod region of the Russian Federation, after which local publics reported at least two arrivals and published footage showing columns of smoke.

In particular, a fire was reported in the private sector.

The governor of Belgorod region, Vyacheslav Gladkov, said that a 16-year-old girl was killed in the shelling. She was allegedly in a private house, which caught fire as a result of the attack. Her father is in shock, has a closed head injury, burns and carbon monoxide poisoning. The man was hospitalized, Gladkov said.

"The fire occurred in two private residential buildings. The fire is currently out. Windows in several apartments of 3 apartment buildings and two private houses were smashed. One business entity was also damaged. Eight cars have been damaged," the governor said as of 8:53 am.

According to Gladkov, in Belgorod district, there are destructions in the villages of Razumnoe and Dubovoe. In the former, the roofs of two private households were damaged by shrapnel, and in the latter, a private greenhouse was damaged.

At 1 am on Sunday afternoon, a siren sounded again in Belgorod and the region, and a missile alert was announced. Gladkov called on the population to go down to the shelters.

Local media, in turn, reported that it was "loud" over Belgorod again, and a fire broke out.

According to their data, there is a hit-and-run on Sportyvna Street, and there is a dead person. And on Lermontov, Gubkin and Gorky streets, buildings, including residential buildings, were damaged.

As OBOZ.UA previously reported, on the evening of March 16, loud explosions were heard in Belgorod, just as the Freedom of Russia legion announced strikes on the positions of Russian troops in the city. In the morning, the Belgorod region also complained of shelling.

Due to the military operations of Russian rebels, which began on March 12, local residents are being evacuated en masse from the Belgorod region. Russia is deploying additional military equipment there. Volunteers announced an additional green corridor for civilians.

On March 17, fighters of the Siberian Battalion said that they had entered the village of Gorkovsky near Belgorod, near the border with Ukraine, together with volunteers from Ichkeria.

Commenting on the events in Russia, the head of the Main Intelligence Directorate, Kyrylo Budanov, expressed confidence that the Russian volunteers do not intend to stop and that Ukraine will help them. According to Budanov, the rebels will achieve their goal as they "solve their internal issues."
