British intelligence has pointed out a nuance in the training of Russian officers that will impact the future of the Russian Armed Forces

The Academy of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces has initiated the training of officers who have participated in the war against Ukraine. It is likely that the adversary is grooming new commanders from these seasoned officers.

The course for the new group commenced on December 1, as reported by the UK intelligence service.

According to the Russian Ministry of Defense, over 60% of the Russian military personnel enrolled in the course possess combat experience.

British experts suggest that students at this academy, located at 100 Vernadsky Avenue in Moscow, typically hold military ranks ranging from major to major general. They are regarded as potential candidates for senior command positions in the Russian army.

The intelligence officers added that, unlike Russian operations in Syria, where combat experience was primarily gained by specialized personnel (such as pilots), in the war against Ukraine, Russian mid-level officers are also acquiring this experience.

British intelligence suggests that in the coming years, this generation of officers in the Russian Armed Forces is likely to have a significant impact on the future direction of the military policy of the aggressor country, Russia, and on the implementation of the "lessons learned" from the war waged against Ukraine.
