Border crossing with Poland has become more difficult for Ukrainians: at which checkpoints are travel restrictions possible
Starting February 19, 2025, repairs will begin on the road bridge over the Western Bug River at the Ustyluh-Zosyn checkpoint, which will cause delays in traffic. The work will last until mid-January 2026, so Ukrainians are advised to choose other checkpoints.
This was reported by the State Customs Service of Ukraine. The repair work will be carried out to ensure the durability and safety of the bridge across the Western Bug, which is an important part of the transport infrastructure connecting Ukraine and Poland.
The bridge is key for the transportation of goods and passengers between the two countries, and therefore any work on it cannot take place without affecting traffic. Given the scope of work, there will be traffic restrictions.
The repairs involve significant work to strengthen the bridge's structures, as well as partial closure or restriction of certain lanes. This may cause congestion at the border crossing, which in turn will lead to delays for those planning to cross the border through this checkpoint.
The repair work is expected to last until mid-January 2026. This means that citizens planning to travel through Ustyluh-Zosyn should be prepared for possible delays for a significant period of time. Given that a large number of freight and passenger vehicles pass through this crossing point, the repairs could create significant difficulties for those planning to travel.
In addition, delays for vehicles on the Polish side of the border are also expected, which will only exacerbate the situation. Due to the repairs, citizens are advised to take this information into account when planning their trips. If possible, alternative border crossing points should be considered to avoid delays.
There are other border crossing points between Ukraine and Poland that can be a good alternative to Ustyluh-Zosyn. These are such points as Hrushev-Budomezh, Krakovets-Korchova, Shehyni-Medyka, and others, which can also be used to cross the border. However, it is worth noting that these checkpoints can also be busy, so it is important to check the current situation before leaving.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, starting February 10, international bus carriers at the Chop-Zahony checkpoint will be able to cross the border at a time booked in advance in eCheck. The new format is expected to help reduce queues and make international transportation more organized and predictable.
