The second-generation Chinese SUV BAIC BJ40 was shown in China. The frame "all-terrain vehicle" is an affordable alternative to the Toyota Land Cruiser, but it costs the same as the compact RAV4 crossover.
CarNewsChina tells about the car. In a few days, the live premiere of the Chinese SUV will take place, and photos of the BAIC BJ40 for the 2024 model year have already appeared online.
The new car looks modern. This was achieved by copying the styling of various Toyota and Land Rover models – the Chinese have never learned to develop their own design. However, this has never been their goal.
The length of the BAIC BJ40 is 4790 mm (wheelbase – 2760 mm), width – 1940 mm, and height – 1895 mm. The SUV is quite large.
It is equipped with three monitors on the front panel and wireless charging for a smartphone. The new BJ40 is powered by a 2.0-liter gasoline turbo engine with a capacity of 245 hp.
An 8-speed automatic transmission is paired with the engine. The drive is all-wheel drive. The price of the Chinese SUV starts from $27,650.
