"Ahead of the upcoming congress": Olympic biathlon champion urges Russia to take over IOC

Vasilyev says Russian is in for a real fight at the IOC Congress next year

Two-time Olympic champion Dmitry Vasilyev has once again repeated his absurd wish for Russia to take over the International Olympic Committee (IOC). The former biathlete added that the aggressor country is in for a real fight at the IOC Congress next year.

Vasilyev said this to the propaganda channel Match TV, commenting on the resignation of the President of the Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) Stanislav Pozdnyakov. The accomplice of Vladimir Putin's dictatorial regime noted that the former ROC head should be succeeded by a tough official.

"On the eve of the fight that is expected next year, we need to show our intentions, we need to be able to defend our stance and achieve a positive result. On the eve of the next year's IOC Congress, we need to work very hard to elect a consolidated candidate for the IOC presidency together with our supporters. We need to be able to talk, convince and explain. And most importantly, they must have tremendous authority in the international arena. This person must be heard," Vasilyev said.

As a reminder, the current IOC President, Thomas Bach, has decided to end his work in the committee. The seven known candidates who will run for the presidency in March next year are Feisal Al Hussein (Jordan), Sebastian Coe (UK), Kirsty Coventry (Zimbabwe), Juan Antonio Samaranch (Spain), Johan Eliasch (Sweden), David Lapparient (France) and  (Japan).
