A unique case occurred at the European Football Championship

Six players from different national teams became the top scorers of the 2024 European Championship, which ended in Germany the day before. This time, it was decided not to use additional indicators, but to award the Golden Boot prize to several players at once.

This time, it was enough to score three times to win the goal-scoring championship. This was done by the participants of the final match - England's Harry Kane and Spain's Dani Olmo, as well as representatives of Georgia's Giorgi Mikautadze, Slovakia's Ivan Schrantz, Germany's Jamal Musiala and the Netherlands' Cody Gakpo.

All of them will receive the Golden Boot from the European Football Union (UEFA) for the first time in the history of the competition. On the eve of the decisive Euro 2024 match, the organization made adjustments to the principle of determining the winner in the nomination and decided that it would be shared by several players in case of a tie.

Interestingly, a similar situation occurred at Euro 2012, which was hosted by Ukraine and Poland. Back then, six players also scored three times, but the Spaniard Fernando Torres was declared the top scorer, as he was ahead of the competition because he made one assist and played the fewest minutes in the tournament.
