American Alex Schnee has visited all 7 continents of the world. Growing up in a small town, she always dreamed of traveling.

As she grew up, she was lucky enough to find a flexible job and a like-minded person. Schnee told Business Insider about the places that impressed her the most.

Africa: The Sahara Desert

"I like the Sahara Desert so much that I visited it twice," Alex says. The traveler noted that she will never forget the night sky and the Milky Way, which was visible between the clouds. Each star seemed so close it felt you could touch it.

The endless dunes and the ever-changing landscape mean that you experience something new every time, and each view is different from the one before.

Antarctica: The Antarctic Peninsula

Kayaking among the blue icebergs and penguins on the Antarctic Peninsula offers an experience that simply cannot be seen anywhere else. Schnee describes the wildlife and landscapes of Antarctica as if they were from another world.

"Just when I thought the continent couldn't get any more beautiful, our ship turned and we found a new, seemingly untouched corner with glaciers and sleeping seals," she recalls.

Asia: The Himalayas

There is something special about being on top of the world. "When my husband and I went up to Everest camp, where climbers begin their ascent, we were greeted by incredibly high peaks and stunning views," Alex says.

However, she notes that it's not only a physical challenge but also an emotional one. The mountains are incredibly big, and just when you think you've seen the most beautiful view, another incredibly big peak looms over you.

Australia: Uluru

Compared to Australia's big cities, few people make it to the Australian outback. Schnee believes it is the best part of the continent. "We traveled around Uluru by bike, which was a great way to realize the scale and importance of this place, which is sacred to the Aborigines," she said.

The most unforgettable part of the trip was the sunset, which paints the famous rock with pink and purple hues.

Europe: Florence, Italy

Although Alex lived in the Florence region of Italy for a year, she admits that she didn't have time to explore all the city's gems. "I would often go to random churches to find works by Botticelli or Donatello, and spend days wandering the streets looking for the perfect ice cream," Schnee says.

The traveler recalls seeing the sunset from Piazzale Michelangelo, which offers a view of the city's panorama. From this angle, Florence looks like a work of art, with the colors of dusk spilling over the buildings.

North America: Wrangell-St. Alaska

One of the parks in Alaska that surprised Alex was Wrangell-St. Alaska, Elias National Park. During her trip, she saw 26 national parks and singled this one out as a must-see.

"I was in awe of the high mountains, the herds of caribou running across the tundra, and the endless photo opportunities," she said. The best way to see this landscape is from the air. Schnee recommends taking a plane ride.

South America: Galapagos Islands

The Galapagos Islands are a destination worth visiting for any animal lover. "As soon as you arrive, you're guaranteed to see wildlife everywhere you look, whether it's on land, in the air, or underwater," Alex says.

From cheerful birds to playful sea lions and ancient turtles, just make sure you always keep at least 2 meters away from the animals, as required by the Galapagos National Park. Combined with aquamarine water, rocky coastline and amazingly beautiful beaches, the Galapagos Islands are a must-see destination in your life.
