An incredible sight was recorded in Odesa – a ghost ship "hanging" in the air. In fact, this is not a miracle, but a natural phenomenon.
Scientists explain such "ghosts" by an effect called Fata Morgana. Instead, the video of the "flying" vessel is being shared online with comments about the sea ghost, writes the Telegram channel OdesaInfo.
This is not the first time that ships "hanging" in the air have been seen in Odesa. In particular, a similar phenomenon was recorded by Odesa residents while visiting the city in the summer of 2024. At that time, the ship also seemed to be "flying" in the air, surprising those walking on the waterfront.
According to scientists, the Fata Morgana is a complex optical phenomenon in the atmosphere consisting of several forms of mirages observed at sea and in deserts. The light from the sun's rays is refracted and gives the impression that distant objects beyond the horizon are hanging in the air, according to Wikipedia.
Interestingly, according to legend, the Fata Morgana is a fairy that lives on the seabed and deceives travelers with ghostly visions.
