A river instead of a road: here is what flooding near Darnytska Square in Kyiv, caused by heavy downpour, looked like in 1971. Rare photo
There have been times in Kyiv's history when heavy rains have flooded roads. In particular, in 1971, a downpour significantly affected one of the roads near Darnytska Square.
The rare photo was published in the you.love.kiev community on Facebook. You can see the consequences of the disaster from 54 years ago.
"Flooding after a downpour near Darnytska Square, 1971," the post reads.
The photo shows that the road near the tram stop in front of the now defunct Vulkan plant literally turned into a river.
