In 2024, a record 20.8 thousand electric cars were imported to Ukraine, which is 2.1 times more than in the same period in 2023. Tesla, Volkswagen, and Nissan are the most popular brands among Ukrainians.

This is reported by analysts of Opendatabot. In 2023, this number was 9,736 cars.

How many electric cars were imported to Ukraine

According to the data, electric cars account for 12.9% of the total number of imported cars in Ukraine. This significant growth indicates that Ukrainians are increasingly preferring eco-friendly transportation, despite periodic problems with the country's energy supply.

Tesla has become the most popular

Tesla electric cars are the most popular among Ukrainian consumers. In five months of 2024, 4,742 cars of this brand were imported into the country. Volkswagen is in second place with 3,194 imported electric cars, and Nissan rounds out the top three with 3,034 electric cars. Among the electric car models that are in the greatest demand in Ukraine are:

  • Nissan Leaf;
  • Tesla Model 3;
  • Volkswagen ID.4.
What models are the most popular among electric cars

These models attract Ukrainians with their reliability, efficiency, and modern design. Lviv region became the leader among the regions in the import of electric cars, with a share of 13.5%. The second place was taken by Kyiv with 13.1%, and Odesa region took the third place with 9.3%.
