A rare situation occurred at the Biathlon World Cup
Germany's biathlon team has made an incredible showing in the men's sprint race at the third stage of the World Cup, which is currently taking place in Lenzerheid, Switzerland. The Bundestim interrupted the hegemony of the Norwegians, who had previously won seven of the nine medals in the last three individual events.
At the same time, the sprint itself resulted in a rare situation where representatives of only two countries - four Germans and two Norwegians - were included in the flower ceremony. For example, this happened only once last season, when five athletes from Norway finished in the top 6 in the mass start at the stage in Annecy, France.
The winner of the sprint in Lenzerheide was the experienced Benedikt Doll. He covered 10 kilometers of the course in 23 minutes and 15 seconds. The second place went to Norwegian Johannes Bøgh, who lost 5.5 seconds to the German, and Philippe Navrat took the bronze.
The Ukrainian biathletes failed to please their fans with good results. Our team captain, Dmytro Pidruchny, was the best, taking 22nd place with two misses. The rest of our compatriots failed to make it even to the top 40.
As OBOZ.UA previously reported, Ukrainian biathletes took the first medal of the new season, winning the mixed relay at the IBU Junior Cup.
