Serbian striker Petar Ratkov of FC Salzburg scored the fastest goal in the history of the Austrian league. The 20-year-old Belgrade native opened the scoring in the game against Blau Weiss Linz in the 5th second.

After the opening whistle, Ratkov ran to press the opponent's goalkeeper and it gave the desired result. Goalkeeper Nicholas Schmid got nervous and, trying to knock the ball into the field, hit the Salzburg player right in the leg.

A round projectile ricocheted into the goal.

The previous record was set in July 2007. Back then, former Salzburg striker Patrick Jezek scored against Altach in the 10th second.

It should be noted that last year was generous with record goals. In June, Spain U-21 striker Abel Ruiz scored the fastest goal in the history of European youth championships. The 23-year-old forward of the Portuguese Braga scored in the 20th second in the Euro 2023 group stage match against Croatia.

On June 3, 2023, Manchester City midfielder Ilkay Gundogan scored the fastest goal in the history of the FA Cup. The 32-year-old German international opened the scoring in the match against Manchester United in the 13th second.
