The England defender became a real antihero of the match

Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings brought his team an unusual 11-meter strike in the Champions League match of the 4th round against Belgian Brugge. The 31-year-old England international simply picked up the ball in his own penalty area.

In the 52nd minute, Aston Villa's Argentine goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez started his team's attack by passing to Mings, but for some reason he decided that this pass was not counted. Tyrone calmly picked up the ball and moved it.

Brugge players immediately began to signal to the referee that this was a violation. German Tobias Stieler did not object, immediately pointing to the spot. The penalty was accurately converted by Hans Vanaken.

This penalty, which was dubbed the most ridiculous in the history of the Champions League on social media, was decisive. The match ended with a score of 1-0.

As reported by OBOZ.UA, in a parallel match, Shakhtar Donetsk defeated Swiss Young Boys in the 4th round of the Champions League. Nominally, the home match at the Feltins Arena in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, ended with a score of 2-1.
