$768,000 for gold: which countries paid the most for medals at the 2024 Olympics

The XXXIII Summer Olympics in France, whose motto was "The Games are open to all", are already history.

Olympics-2024 was in the center of attention of OBOZ.UA. Recall, 10,714 athletes from 206 countries played 329 sets of awards, which is 5084 medals in 32 sports. To the 28 main sports in France added four more: break dancing, sport climbing, skateboarding and surfing. Representatives of 90 countries climbed the podium.

At the Games, 21 world records were set in nine sports: athletics, cycling, shooting, weightlifting, archery, swimming, canoeing, modern pentathlon and rock climbing. Four world records have been set by swimmers, and athletes from the United States are the authors of seven world records in the French arenas.

The organization and holding of the Games cost France about 9 billion euros. Order at the Olympics was ensured by 45 thousand police and gendarmes, and several thousand foreign guardians of order assisted them.

About 9 million spectators visited the stands of sports arenas in Paris and other cities of the country during the Olympics, and it was not only the French. Basketball, track and field, soccer, and the opening and closing ceremonies were particularly popular.

For the first time, two international federations set prize money for representatives of their sports. Winners of all kinds of athletics program will receive 50 thousand dollars each, and relay teams will share this amount of prize money among its participants. The boxing federation was also generous. The gold medal was "estimated" at 100 thousand dollars, silver medal - 50 000 dollars, bronze medal - 25 000 dollars. At the same time there is an important specification: champions and prize-winners will receive half of the specified amount, 25% will go to their coaches and National Olympic Committees.

1. Hong Kong - 768 thousand dollars for "gold", 384 thousand for "silver", 192 thousand for "bronze".

Hong Kong athletes won 2 gold and 2 bronze awards.

2. Singapore - 745 thousand dollars for "gold", 373 thousand for "silver", 186 thousand for "bronze".

Olympians of Singapore won 1 bronze medal.

3. Indonesia - 300 thousand dollars for "gold", 150 thousand for "silver", 60 thousand for "bronze".

Indonesian Olympians won 2 gold and 1 bronze medals.

4. Israel - 271 thousand dollars for "gold", 216 thousand for "silver", 135 thousand for "bronze".

In the asset of athletes of Israel 1 gold, 5 silver and 1 bronze medals.

5. Kazakhstan - 250 thousand dollars for "gold", 150 thousand for "silver", 75 thousand for "bronze".

Olympians of Kazakhstan won 1 gold, 3 silver and 3 bronze medals.

In the team medal standings, the top three Olympic teams are as follows:

USA - 126 medals (40 gold, 44 silver, 42 bronze)

China - 91 (40+27+24)

Japan - 45 (20+12+13).

Here is how their athletes-medalists in these countries were rewarded:

USA - 38 thousand dollars for "gold", 23 thousand for "silver", 15 thousand for "bronze".

Japan - 32 thousand dollars for "gold", 13 thousand for "silver", 6 thousand for "bronze".
