To please you with flowers: what indoor plants you need to fertilize in winter
Most indoor plants are dormant in winter to gain strength and energy for development and new flowering. But there are some flowers that, on the contrary, need special care and feeding during the cold season.
OBOZ.UA has found effective tips that will help you cope with this. The soil in the pot loses its nutrients over time, so you need to regularly fertilize it for good plant growth.
In winter, a sharp change in temperature and reduced daylight have a negative impact on flowerpots, so only the most resilient ones will bloom.
Phalaenopsis (a type of orchid), azaleas, violets, rhipsalidopsis, and Christmas cactus need regular fertilization in winter. To do this, you can buy any fertilizer in the store.
But for potted plants such as orchids, succulents, and cacti, it's better to choose specialized fertilizers that are filled with the necessary trace elements and nutrients for further development.
You can also make a useful fertilizer yourself. You only need one natural ingredient, pomegranate, namely its peel.
Remove any remaining pulp and seeds. Cut the peels into small pieces and cover them with water. Leave it for 24-48 hours so that the peels can "give up" all their nutrients.
Then strain the solution. Dilute the resulting liquid in a ratio of 1:10 with water at room temperature. Water your indoor flowers with the solution once a week.
The main thing is not to oversaturate the soil with fertilizer because a high concentration of nutrients can be harmful to plants.
