What to plant in the garden to have little work: vegetables and berries for the lazy

The plants on this list won't bore you too much with care

At the cottage, you want to relax and enjoy nature and summer, not kill yourself in the garden from dawn till dusk. At the same time, the desire to have a fresh salad from your own garden also can't go anywhere. Fortunately, these two seemingly incompatible items can still be combined. All you need to do is plant a vegetable garden, which does not require much care and protection.

OBOZREVATEL tells about these crops. All they need is regular watering.

Legumes

Legumes grow well without complicated care - just plant them in time. You don't even have to spend time building them a support for their climbing sprouts. Just place the bed near a fence or railing or string a few twines around it. But don't forget to harvest in a timely manner. If you don't harvest beans, beans or other crops in this family, the plant will stop putting in new pods.

Cherry tomatoes

Unlike large tomatoes, which are very susceptible to various diseases and need careful care, hybrid cherries do not suffer from this problem. They can be grown in the garden or in containers, tied on posts, or left as is. An added bonus is that the small fruits won't even have to be sliced for salad.

Garlic

This vegetable does not suffer from undue attention from pests. All it needs is periodic watering. And the harvest can then be used in dishes all winter long, because garlic keeps well.

Leafy greens

A variety of salads, arugula, spinach, kale, etc. grow on the homestead like weeds - almost by themselves. The main thing is not to forget to water them. You can also apply fertilizer from time to time. And most importantly, it is to periodically cut fresh leaves from the plant into lettuce. The more often you prune these vegetables, the more and longer they will give birth.

Hot peppers

Small, spicy peppers are easier to grow than their sweet counterparts. Plants have high yields and vegetables can be harvested at any stage of maturity. In addition, the spicy varieties can be left out of the watering process. The less water and more sun they get, the sharper they will be. The only care they may need is gartering if the crop is large.

Herbs

Aromatic herbs are suitable for both salads and teas, and they are surprisingly easy to grow. The main rule is that annuals (basil, dill, cilantro) require more water than biennials or perennials. The plus side of these plants is that they spread a great aroma around them. And the more you prune them, the more lush they will grow.

Fruiting shrubs

Raspberries, currants, and gooseberries require much less attention than, for example, strawberries. But you should still keep an eye on them, because they can get sick. Then they will have to be treated for infection or pest. But these are hardy bushes, which recover quite quickly.

Pumpkin

Pumpkins, zucchini, patissons are fairly undemanding vegetables. All they need is watering once every few days. But you will have a whole bunch of options for dishes with such ingredients. In addition, you can make delicious casseroles from them.
