What not to do after the wash: both the clothes and the machine will be ruined

The Top Most Common Machine Washing Mistakes

The invention of washing machines greatly simplified the washing process. It would seem simple: sort things by color, throw them in, add detergent and conditioner, and wait for the machine to do its job.

But often we make common mistakes that spoil both the clothes and the machineю What not to do after washing, told the publication Sante Plus.

Why you shouldn't leave laundry in the washing machine for too long

The first and most obvious reason why you should not leave things in the drum for a long time is the unpleasant smell that will appear on the clothes.

Experts note: such a habit will have a very negative effect on the appliance as well. Regardless of the model, from the oldest to modern, washing machines wear out very quickly, especially if they are not serviced properly. Manufacturers always warn about the dangers of keeping wet items in the drum for long periods of time. Not only will this reduce the efficiency of the machine, but it will also limit the life of the machine.

In addition, moisture causes mold to form on the fibers of fabrics.

The way of loading things

The way the machine is loaded plays a huge role in the washing process.

The classic order of loading is as follows:

  1. Pour detergent into the container.
  2. Fill the drum with dirty things.
  3. Turn on the machine and start the washing process.

By choosing the right loading order, you can avoid excessive foaming and greatly minimize the risk of damaging fabrics. Too much detergent is never good for cleaning clothes. If you have a detergent dispenser (like most front-loading machines), use it. It has been specifically designed to release powder or liquid at the most appropriate moment of the cycle.

Danger of overloading

To avoid several cycles of the machine and to save on water and electricity, the drum is often filled to the limit. Specialists caution: this is a very bad idea. The more clothes are "weaved", the more they crumple, the worse they are cleaned. Overloading leaves less room for water, so its circulation decreases, which necessarily limits the efficiency of washing.

Amount of detergent

Too much powder or liquid leads to the formation of a lot of foam. Foam residues can cause great harm, in particular changing the color of things, making them dull and staining the laundry even more. Not to mention the fact that these residues can lead to the growth of bacteria.

Proper spinning

This process wrings wet clothes at high speed to remove excess water and help things dry faster. But be careful because the spin can damage your clothes if used improperly. Spinning at high speeds can cause stretching of the fabric. And if your clothes are also unevenly distributed, the constant contact can damage the fibers.
