Two plants will save your home from spiders: how to get rid of "residents"

Lavender and mint smell great to humans but not to spiders

In late August, many spiders begin their mating season. This means that the number in our homes can increase significantly. But getting such neighbors, and in large numbers, is an idea that few people are enthusiastic about.

That's why OBOZREVATEL has put together some tips on how to deal with uninvited guests. In particular, what plants to have at home to scare away spiders in a natural and environmentally friendly way?

Lavender

The fragrant flower is not well tolerated by most insects and almost all spiders. However, people find its scent pleasant. Therefore, it is a good choice to have a pot of lavender at home. If you don't feel like taking care of the plant, you can simply buy an aroma diffuser or aroma lamp and fill it with the plant's natural essential oil. This will also have the desired effect.

Mint

Another plant scent that spiders cannot tolerate is the fresh aroma of mint. But, unlike lavender, this plant itself does not smell very intense. It is better to use it as an ingredient for food and drinks (then during cooking, mint will release its smell), in aroma candles or form of essential oil.

Other ways to protect yourself from spiders

Here are a few more life hacks that will help you get rid of the eight-legged crawlers. They will not only drive them out of your home but also keep them out.

White vinegar

A mixture of white vinegar and water is designed not only to clean the house but also to scare away spiders. They hate this smell, so mix the two liquids in equal proportions and treat the places where these creatures appear most often.

Close all cracks and install window screens

Spiders often enter the house through various narrow openings from the street. Therefore, it is worth checking your home for holes and gaps that may be in your baseboards or floor and closing them. Window screens will protect not only spiders but also other insects from entering.

Citrus oils

Another smell that octopuses dislike is the aroma of citrus fruits. Therefore, apply a little essential oil of orange, grapefruit, or other fruit to a cotton ball and wipe the entry points with it. The strong odor will keep spiders from entering, which means you can open windows without fear of entry.

Keep your home clean

To prevent spiders from entering your home, keep the premises clean. Pay special attention to dusting, as these creatures love dusty corners.
