Dalaloyan condemns IOC

Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion Artur Dalaloyan has called the International Olympic Committee's (IOC) recommendations to allow Russian athletes to compete a humiliation. The gymnast and one of the main rivals of our Oleg Verniaev and Igor Radivilov expressed confidence that few athletes from the aggressor country would oppose the war in Ukraine, as many of them are involved in the security forces.

Dalaloyan said this in an interview with Sport Day by Day. He noted that it is unacceptable for him to give up the Dynamo sports club, which historically belongs to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

"I was not pleased with the IOC. For me, this is not a serious question. Dynamo has been my club since childhood. Of course, I will not give it up. Hopefully, these are probably not the last recommendations before the 2024 Olympics. Everything can change. In general, this is just ridiculous. It seems like they just want to humiliate Russian athletes as much as possible. If the recommendations do not change, then yes, few will be able to go," Dalaloyan said.

Recall that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that international federations suspend Russian athletes involved in the Russian army and law enforcement agencies, as well as team sports. Following this, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine decided to boycott tournaments involving the aggressors.

As OBOZREVATEL previously reported, Olga Zaitseva, the doping champion of the Sochi 2014 Olympics, called the IOC's recommendations on the admission of Russian athletes to competitions envy of the aggressor country.
