How to return a bright colour to a black sink: ways to get rid of plaque and dullness

How to clean a black sink

A black sink has a minimalist, sophisticated and modern look. However, many people refuse to use dark-coloured plumbing because of its impracticality. Hard tap water has a high content of calcium and magnesium salts, which, when deposited, form limescale. Due to constant contact with various surfaces, salts settle not only on top, but also eventually penetrate the material, damaging its structure.

White sediment visually spoils black plumbing. Porady Interia has published the best tips to help restore shine to a dark sink.

Lemon juice

Aggressive chemicals can damage the surface, so it is better to use effective and environmentally friendly products. Lemon juice will help with shallow limescale. Squeeze the juice onto a sponge and rinse the surface. Shine and a pleasant aroma are guaranteed.

Baking soda

Baking soda will cope with more difficult dirt and deposits. Mix 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 cup of water in a small container. Dip a sponge in the solution and wring it out thoroughly. When cleaning, be careful not to scratch the delicate texture of the sink with abrasive particles.

Dishwashing liquid

In the kitchen, it is better to use a regular dishwashing detergent that will quickly remove greasy and dried food stains. Apply a little detergent to a damp sponge, rinse the sink thoroughly and wipe it with a dry cloth to remove any streaks.

Vinegar and vegetable oil

A life hack with vinegar and vegetable oil is gaining popularity online.

Pour ½ cup of vinegar into a spray bottle and spray on the dirty sink.

Place a cotton pad soaked in vinegar on the tap and secure it with a rubber band to prevent it from falling off. A drop of vegetable oil will help polish the sink to a shine. Gently clean the surface and the faucet, then dry the sink with paper towels.
