How to descale a kettle in 15 minutes: the most effective way
The main cause of limescale in the kettle is the quality of the tap water. Calcium and magnesium dissolve in water, and when it boils, limescale or calcium carbonate forms, which settles on the walls and negatively affects the taste of water, tea and coffee. However, even filtered water will not solve the problem of limescale on the heating element.
Acidic ingredients, such as citric acid or baking soda, are best for cleaning the kettle. The Express has revealed how to descale a kettle in 15 minutes.
Nick Small, an appliance expert, shared some tips for cleaning a kettle. According to him, limescale even affects the quality of the appliance and can cause a number of breakdowns.
"The most effective way to remove any unwanted limescale is to prepare a special solution," the expert said.
Ingredients needed:
- soda;
- water.
Step 1. Mix two glasses of water and one tablespoon of baking soda in a bowl.
Step 2. Pour the solution into the kettle and boil it.
Step 3. Do not pour out the baking soda solution immediately after boiling. Let it cool inside the kettle for another 15 minutes.
Finally, rinse the kettle with cold water and use a sponge to remove any limescale residue. Wipe the surface with a dry cloth.
You can also use citric acid or the juice of one lemon. The acid in its composition will dissolve limescale well and disinfect the kettle. Read more about the method in the article.
