How to clean a grill

Summer is a great time to enjoy grilled steaks, barbecue, or crispy baked vegetables. The only thing that can spoil a summer picnic is the need to wash the grills and skewers.

Burnt food, dirt, grease, vegetable and meat residues get stuck between the grates, so the washing process takes a lot of time. The Kitchen publication shared an interesting life hack that will help you quickly clean your grill.

An effective method is gaining popularity online. Culinary expert Babs Costello shared on TikTok that a wire brush or scraper is not needed for grilling. Instead, just use a large onion cut in half.

Step 1: Preheat the grill to high temperature.

Step 2: Cut the onion in half and pierce it with a large fork. It should stick firmly to the fork.

Step 3: Rub the onion slice along the grill grates. The juice will produce the steam needed to lift the charred bits. A nice bonus: the onions will add a little flavor to the food.

By the way, there are other effective life hacks for skewers and grills. You can mix vinegar and water in a 1:1 ratio and apply the solution evenly to dirty surfaces. A metal sponge or scraper will help remove any grease and burnt food residue. Then use a regular detergent and rinse the equipment with clean water. Soda, sand, citric acid, and salt will help clean the grill. Read more in the article.
