Shaving foam is good for pushing deep stains out of pile

Some of the Internet's best practices can look pretty paradoxical. And yet be completely workable. Like, for example, the advice to clean stains on the carpet with shaving foam.

As OBOZREVATEL found out, if used properly, it is ideal for breaking up grease and removing even the most stubborn stains when cleaning carpets. But it is important to know how to use it correctly. Here is what the experts think about it.

Are all shaving products suitable for carpet?

No. Shaving gels or soaps will not be effective enough to clean the carpet. They can themselves leave stains on it, stick to the lint and make the surface slippery. That's why it's best to choose a pre-foamed product. Or very carefully whip and apply not the gel itself, but its foam. This texture will easily break up grease and push deep dirt to the surface. It will also make the carpet pile looser and softer.

What is the best foam to choose?

The foam itself is unlikely to damage the carpet dye or pile, although a test on an inconspicuous area is always a good idea. But a colored product can leave stains. Therefore, it is better to give preference to standard white, odorless foam for cleaning.

Can I clean natural carpets with shaving foam?

Of course, it is possible to take a risk, but it is still better to give preference to special products when working with natural fleece. Natural wool or vegetable fibers may be too sensitive to the foam components. They are more susceptible to water damage or discoloration.

What is the right way to clean a carpet with shaving foam?

If the test shows that the product will not damage your floor covering, you can begin cleaning itself. Apply the foam directly to the stain on the carpet to cover it completely. Leave it in action for about 15 minutes. During this time, the product should penetrate deep into the pile, bind with the contaminant, dissolve whatever it can and, due to its texture, push the solids to the surface.

When the foam is working, blot the rest of it with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub the stain to avoid pushing the dirt back into the pile. When you've removed all of the product, rinse the cleaned area with water and blot it several times to collect as much moisture as possible. For example, paper towels will come in handy for this. After that, let the carpet dry naturally.

Of course, you can also try to clean the entire carpet with shaving foam, but this can be quite expensive. An ordinary shampoo for this type of flooring will also cope with uncomplicated dirt.
