According to the legend, Franz Joseph, the emperor of Austria-Hungary, was traveling to his palace and stopped for lunch at a poor farmer's house. The farmer, in turn, decided to feed the emperor pancakes but was so nervous that he couldn't flip them properly. The only thing the farmer could do at the time was to put the failed pancakes on a plate, serving beautifully. The emperor liked this interpretation so much that he decided to add it to his own menu.

There are also other theories about the origin of the legendary Kaiserschmarrn dish. However, there is only one conclusion: the dish has a long history and its own character. The recipe for the imperial omelet was shared on Instagram by a food blogger named sni_danke.
