Layered cake with apples: how to make a light and delicious dessert for tea
A handmade apple layer cake will be a great addition to breakfast or a home gathering with a cup of tea.
A food blogger with the nickname receptuk.ua posted a recipe for this wonderful cake on her Instagram. She noted that it can be prepared not only for every day, but also for holidays.
Ingredients for cakes
- Flour - 650 gr
- Butter or margarine - 500 g
- Vinegar - 1 tbsp
- Egg yolks - 4 pcs
- Sour cream - 200 g
Ingredients for apple filling
- Apples - 1.5 kg
- Sugar - 150 gr
- Water - 1 liter
Ingredients for the cream
- Milk - 750 ml
- Cornstarch - 3 tbsp
- Butter - 300 gr
- Powdered sugar - 100-150 gr
How to prepare the cakes
1.Mix flour with butter and grind into crumbs.
2. Add the egg yolks and sour cream and quickly knead the dough.
3. Add the vinegar and leave the dough for at least 5 hours, preferably overnight.
4. Roll out the dough, pierce it with a fork and bake the cakes until done at 180 degrees. You should get seven cakes, 20/30 cm in size.
Method of preparation of apple filling
1.Cut the apples into rings.
2. Add sugar to the water and cook the syrup.
3. Dip the apples in it and cook until the fruit is soft.
4. Pour off the syrup and let the apples cool completely.
How to prepare the cream
1. Dissolve the starch in 100 ml of milk.
2. Put the rest of the milk on the fire. When it boils, pour in the milk and starch.
3. Cook constantly stirring until thickened.
4. Cover with cling film in contact and cool to room temperature.
5. Beat soft butter with powdered sugar.
6. Add the butter and powdered sugar 1 spoonful at a time to the cream and beat until fluffy.
7. Now let's start assembling the cake. We do this according to the following scheme: cake, then cream, then apples, then cake, etc. until the ingredients are finished.
8. Put it in the fridge for a few hours.
