Churros is a traditional Spanish dessert made from choux pastry and fried in oil. This dessert looks somewhat like our usual eclairs, and it is made from similar ingredients.

Ingredients for the dough

  • Milk - 125 ml
  • Water - 125 ml
  • Butter - 100 gr
  • Sugar - 10 gr
  • A pinch of salt
  • Flour - 150 g
  • Eggs - 4-5 pcs
  • Sunflower oil
  • Powdered sugar

Ingredients for caramel sauce

  • Sugar - 100 gr
  • Cream with fat content of 30% - 100 ml
  • Condensed milk - 50 gr
  • Butter - 80 g
  • A pinch of salt

Method of preparation

1. Prepare the choux pastry. Pour milk and water into a saucepan, add butter, salt and sugar. Bring to a boil. The butter should be well combined with the milk and water.

2. Immediately add all the flour and mix vigorously with a spatula without removing it from the heat. The dough needs to be dried a little, it will take a few minutes.

3. Transfer the dough to a bowl and let it cool slightly.

4. Break the eggs and mix them together.

5. Add the eggs to the dough and blend with a blender. The dough should flow down smoothly. If the batter is too thick, you can add another egg.

6. Heat a large amount of oil well in a saucepan. Put the dough into a pastry bag.

7. Put the dough sticks into the hot oil. As soon as one side turns golden, turn the sticks over and fry on the other side.

8. Remove the churros from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain.

9. To make the caramel sauce, put the sugar, butter, hot cream and condensed milk in a saucepan. Stir until smooth and remove from heat. When the sauce has cooled, it will become much thicker.

10. Sprinkle the churros with powdered sugar and serve with the sauce.
