The legendary performer, who introduced the world to a new view of rap, became famous not only for his iconic image but also for his personal life. The artist met his "muse" Kimberly Ann Scott at the age of 15, and the girl was only 13 at the time.

They were married twice, and as a result, the couple had a daughter, Haley Jade. Kimberly became an inspiration for Eminem, although the songs did not portray the woman in the best light. Marshall and Kim met in 1988 at a house party. Their relationship was full of swings and roundabouts, with the couple getting back together and then going through a breakup again. Eventually, they were married twice, in 1999 and 2006, before splitting up for good in 2007.

The affair has become a frequent theme in Eminem's lyrics and his controversial onstage antics. He once beat an inflatable doll made in the shape of his ex-wife on stage. The woman later said that the incident pushed her to attempt suicide, and she sued him for defamation over the song "Kim."

The reason for the divorce

Eminem has not spoken publicly about why he and Kim broke up, but according to the woman, the rapper's growing fame interfered with their relationship. "When Marshall's first tour started, his ego just skyrocketed," she said in 2007, "Like he was God, that's what he thought... I was just told I should be grateful that he was still talking to me, you know how many women throw themselves at him. And I felt like a piece of shit." Eminem reacted to this with a statement issued through his representative. "The details surrounding my marriage and subsequent divorce filing are private, and I had hoped to keep them that way for the sake of my family. However, some of Kim's statements need to be addressed," the statement said. "First, her claims about my condition after rehab are false and unfortunate. Secondly, she knew that I had filed for divorce. We both tried to give our marriage another chance and quickly realized that a wedding does not solve the underlying problems."

Kim's depression

After her second divorce from Eminem, Ann Scott mostly stayed out of the public eye, but she also struggled with substance abuse and depression. On October 7, 2015, she deliberately drove her car into an electric pole after taking pills prescribed by a doctor with rum.

"I was sitting at the end of the road, where I knew no one would get hurt but me," she said later, "I never expected to survive it. I apologized a lot. I didn't even expect to live through it, and I told [the police] that I tried to do it on purpose." As a result of the accident, Kimberly suffered a concussion, broken toes and wrists.

Raising a daughter

Despite the fact that the couple divorced after more than a decade of marriage, Scott said that the child was always the biggest priority. The artist's daughter Hayley was born on December 25, 1995. In 2001, the rapper admitted that fatherhood had completely changed him: "She made me pull myself together - to do something with my life and try ten quadrillion times harder than I ever did before. Everything I do now, I do for Hayley..."

In between her two marriages to Eminem, the woman gave birth to Stevie Lane Scott by her then-boyfriend Eric Gartter. In 2005, Eminem legally adopted Stevie when he got back together with Kimberly. Eventually, their daughter Haley graduated from Michigan State University, where she met her future husband Evan McClintock. Eminem hasn't dated anyone publicly since his second split from Kim in 2006. "It's hard," he told New York Magazine about his personal life in 2001, "I've had a few dates since the divorce, but nothing has worked out that I want to talk about. Dating is just not something I've been doing lately."
