Paris 2024 Olympic champion Yaroslava Mahuchikh admitted that she felt embarrassed after making several large donations to the Armed Forces. According to the 23-year-old athlete, she received incredible feedback from the military, although it is the country's defenders who should be thanked.

Mahuchikh said this in an interview with Tribuna.com. The world record holder in the high jump also added that Ukrainian athletes should constantly financially support the army, which continues to give a tough fight back to the Russian occupiers and invaders.

"I am very pleased. I represent our country on the international stage in sports – I have this opportunity only thanks to the military because they defend our country. And I was a little uncomfortable because I should be thanking them, not them to me. I try to fast and collect money and show what I donate. I don't always show it, but a lot of people say that I should. I see that many famous people post "daily donations." I believe that it is necessary to make a daily donation. It is the responsibility of every person to bring our victory closer," Mahuchikh said.
