Why stuffed cabbage rolls turn out dry: never cook them this way
Stuffed cabbage is a popular dish that almost every meal in Ukraine is complete without. But it's not always possible to cook a perfect dish. The lack of juiciness spoils the taste.

Adding raw cereal
If you add raw cereal to stuffed cabbage rolls, it simply won't have time to cook. This is why the dish becomes dry. To prevent this from happening, boil the porridge a little and then add it to the minced meat.
Adding rice
It is rice that is most often added to cabbage rolls. However, this ingredient makes the dish very dry as the porridge needs a lot of moisture. It is better to use bulgur or buckwheat.
Too much meat
If there's a lot of meat in the cabbage rolls, it doesn't mean they'll be very tasty. It is very important to mix the minced meat with vegetables and aromatic herbs. These ingredients will add juiciness.
Too tightly rolled filling
Do not stuff stuffed cabbage rolls too tightly. The stuffing should absorb enough air. If it does not, the dish will turn out dry. Make sure there is some space inside the roll.
