What to use to make the simplest shortbread cookies: it turns out tender and crumbly
Homemade shortbread is a very convenient pastry because you can use the ingredients you have at home. For example, you can make the dough for the dessert based on eggs. And if you add just a little starch, the cookies will be very tender and crumbly.
Food blogger Marina Novikova (marisha_recepti) shared a recipe for simple shortbread cookies on her Instagram page, based on eggs.
Ingredients:
- egg - 1
- salt - a pinch
- vanilla sugar - 1 tsp
- sugar - 80 g
- vegetable oil - 100 ml
- cornstarch - 50 g
- baking powder - 8 g
- flour - 200 g
Method of preparation:
1. Mix the egg with salt, vanilla sugar, and regular sugar.
2. Add the oil and mix well.
3. Add the cornstarch and baking powder, then mix well.
4. Gradually add flour and knead the dough.
5. For convenience, divide the dough into 4 parts. Roll each of them into a thin bundle. If desired, you can form a pattern with a fork and cut into small cookie-shaped pieces.
6. Put the cookies on a baking sheet. Bake at 170 degrees for 20 minutes.
7. If desired, decorate the cookies with melted chocolate and chopped nuts.
